Glucoamine Sulfate for Knee Osteoarthritis

osteoarthritis Glucoamine Sulfate for Knee Osteoarthritis

Glucosamine Sulfate and Osteoarthritis of the Knee -

In this study, 318 patients were enrolled in this randomized control trial for patients with Knee Osteoarthritis (OA) during a six month treatment course.

Findings: glucosamine sulfate is more effective than placebo in treating knee osteoarthritis symptoms–reached the level of statistical significance over 6 month period.

What’s interesting about this study is that Acetaminophen actually failed to show a statistically significant effect compared to placebo for treating osteoarthritis  pain.  Of note, based on the findings of this particular study, it would indicate that if you’re going to try a product containing glucosamine, you should be fairly patient in terms of expecting results–about six months patient to be exact.

[box type="important"]Of note, this particular study included glucosamine sulfate vs. glucosamine hydrochloride or n-acetyl glucosamine. For those who’re interested in supplementing with glucosamine, make sure the product that you purchase contains glucosamine sulfate![/box]
